Y cyfnod clo | Lockdown period

Mawrth – Gorffennaf 2020

Dechrau da i fis Mawrth wrth i ni benodi Myfanwy Evans fel swyddog datblygu yn dilyn cais llwyddiannus am grant Her Cymunedau Mentrus dan gynllun Arfor. Bu Myfanwy gweithio yn y Plu ers rhai misoedd ac yn brofiadol iawn yn y maes arlwyo gan weithio mewn sawl lle yn yr ardal.

Ond yn fuan wedyn aeth y sefyllfa gyda Covid-19 o ddrwg i waeth, ac ar yr 20fed o Fawrth caewyd Tafarn y Plu yn unol â gorchymyn y Llywodraeth, ac yn anffodus felly y bu tan fis Awst. Derbyniwyd cymorth ariannol drwy gynlluniau’r Llywodraeth i gefnogi ni oroesi’r cyfnod dyrys. Bu staff a rhai o aelodau’r fenter yn helpu rhai o drigolion y gymuned i nôl siopa a chyflenwadau brys tra oeddynt yn hunan ynysu.

Yn y cyfamser roedd gwaith cynnal a chadw sylweddol wedi digwydd ar y safle. Cafwyd caniatâd gan Gyngor Gwynedd i dorri coed yn yr ardd gan eu bod yn dioddef clefyd coed yr ynn (ash dieback) ac mae’r hen garafan wedi’i symud o’r ardd. Bellach, mae’n ofod agored, hyfryd, sy’n cynnig ei hun yn wych ar gyfer digwyddiadau.

Penderfynwyd y dylem barhau gyda’n cwis misol drwy gyfrwng Zoom. Cafwyd cwisiau llwyddiannus hyd yma gyda gwahanol bobl yn gwisfeistri, a tua deg o unigolion/dimau’n cymryd rhan bob tro.

Wrth i’r Llywodraeth llacio’r cyfyngiadau a chaniatau tafarndai i ail agor yn raddol, penderfynom beidio ail agor am y tro tan disgwyl am ganllawiau pellach, ac yn y cyfamser paratoi ar y gweill ar gyfer ail agor yn ddiogel. I helpu gyda’r paratoi, llwyddom ni fod yn rhan o gynllun Arloesi Gwynedd i gyllido pobl ifanc am gyfnod o 8 wythnos i weithio i ni. Bu’r fenter yn ffodus iawn o gael Marc a Nansi i weithio efo ni dros weddill yr haf.

March – July 2020

A good start to March with the appointment of Myfanwy Evans as a development officer following a successful application for the Arfor Enterprising Communities Challenge grant. Myfanwy had been working in the Plu for several months and is very experienced in catering.

But the situation with Covid-19 went from bad to worse. On the 20th of March the pub was closed in line with the Government order, and unfortunately it was closed until August. We received financial support through Government plans to help us survive the difficult period. Staff and some members of Menter y Plu helped some residents of the community to get their shopping and emergency supplies while they were self-isolating.

In the meantime some significant work had taken place inside and outside. Gwynedd Council gave permission to fell trees in the garden as they suffer from ash dieback, and the old caravan has been removed from the garden. It is now a beautiful, open space, which has great potential for events.

It was decided that we should continue our monthly quiz through Zoom. The quizzes have been successful so far with different quizmasters, with around ten individuals / teams participating each time.

As the Government loosened the restrictions and allowed pubs to re-open gradually, we decided not to re-open until further guidance, and in the meantime prepared for safe re-opening. To help with the preparation, we were part of the Arloesi Gwynedd scheme to fund young people for an 8 week period to work for us. We were very fortunate to have Marc and Nansi working with us over the rest of the summer.
